All symbological changes are made within one Symbology panel in ArcGIS Pro. This tutorial demonstrates accessing the panel and some of its basic options.

Accessing the Symbology Panel

To access the panel, right-click on a layer’s name in the Contents list and choose Symbology.

This will bring up the Symbology panel, and automatically set it to manipulate the symbols used for the layer that was originally clicked.

To change the symbology for a different layer, click its name in the Contents panel. The options within the Symbology Panel will change to reflect the newly highlighted layer. This is demonstrated below. (Right-clicks are yellow and left-clicks are magenta in the demonstration below.)

Additional Options

The series of tutorials included in the Basic Symbology & Classification collections will not specifically cover all of the options available for customizing the graphic display of information. Instead, they focus on the “Primary Symbology” section of the Symbology panel. You can find more options under the various other section headings demonstrated below.
